After some reflection time on how much the Russia-China-India trio (the 3 leaders having met on September 3) can affect Europe and North America in a long run, I can only conclude that we witnessed a quite pronounced intention to counter-balance the West as we came to know it in the past 40 years. The arrogant stance of the Western politicians with regards to the world once known as “developing countries” is bound to change forever and evolve into submissiveness accompanied by a desperate search for concessions. We got to this pathetic situation through the route of our own making, having assumed way too much while having understood so little.

The aspirations “to bring civilization” to the rest of the world have been accompanied by genuine beliefs that civilization only exists in the Western context, that power of the Democrats aptly named “democracy” is the only hope, that a choice of statehood has to be gently (or forcefully) adjusted where it does not appeal to the Democrats. The premise of economic empowerment was supposed to curb purely human ambitions to conquer and acquire (while allowing the Democratic elites to conquer and to acquire, albeit through different means). Kipling’s “half-devil and half-child” definition still lives firmly in the heads of modern political elites even now when the “half-devils” are turning on them in the new reconquest all over North America and Europe.

And so it begins… the 3 countries that, combined, hold the most of the world’s population and terrain, are now moving towards an unprecedented unity, even if circumstantial and tactical, to humiliate the ones who got too comfortable with their expectation to reign supreme. Back few hundred years ago Europeans tried to take over the world through advances in technology and land capture. Today’s Russian, Chinese and Indians are way cleverer. While the 3 countries are gradually beefing up their technological capabilities, not to mention space programs and nuclear weapons ownership, their people are quietly settling down in London, Berlin, Paris, Boston, Toronto and so on. They do not collect welfare but proliferate in the lucrative professions that not only command substantial compensation but also allow participation in the formatting of the societies these new Europeans and Americans dissolve in: doctors, scientists, economists, engineers, analysts. They are smart, hard-working and persistent, just as their 3 mother countries are. And when the time comes, patriotism will kick in.
